LESSONS

I believe composition is one of the most underexplored areas of music education. Most people, myself included, start learning an instrument when they’re young, my journey began at the age of 8 with the saxophone. With regular lessons, they grow and improve as performers, but few ever have the same opportunity to learn how to compose. When they do, it’s often much later, and rarely with the same kind of dedicated guidance.
While playing an instrument is incredibly helpful for composing, I believe anyone can learn to compose in the same way they learn to play. Step by step, with a teacher to guide them. That’s why I’m so passionate about teaching composition.
I offer affordable, personalised lessons for all skill levels, with a special focus on beginner to intermediate composers. Whether you’re a young musician discovering the joy of writing music or an adult finally giving it a try, I’ll help you develop the skills and confidence to create music you’re proud of.
My lessons are based on a beginner-friendly composition course I’ve been developing for schools and private students, adapted to suit each learner’s goals, so I have put a lot of thought into how I teach composition. I’ll work with you to create lessons that match your pace, style, and goals, so your learning experience is perfect for you.
I also have a passion for writing pedagogical music, aimed at providing younger musicians with serious, exciting, and fresh works that give young musicians the same thrill professionals feel. If you are interested, I have them listed under my compositions tab
