BIO
Hamish Reeves (b. 2001) is an emerging composer from Sydney, Australia. In March 2024, he moved to Provo, Utah to marry the love of his life. Since October 2024, he has been the score composer for the new Spirit of Freedom pageant, set to premiere in Manti, Utah in June 2026.
Between 2020 and 2022, Hamish lived in, served, and was a missionary in various communities across South Australia and the Northern Territory, such as Darwin, Elizabeth, and towns along the banks of the Murray River. He draws upon these experiences, the people he met, and the lessons he learned as a diverse influence for the music he writes.
Hamish enjoys composing for a wide variety of ensembles, exploring the tone colours and timbres each instrument can offer. He has studied with Ursula Caporali, Aiden Rosa, and Tristan Coelho. Alongside composing, he works as a music educator and is passionate about creating pedagogical music that inspires and engages learners of all levels.
